Greater Houston City Directory, 1945 (Title Page):
At the listed price of $50.00, this Buyer's Guide and Complete Classified Business Directory was very expensive. However, the title page indicates that there was a "directory library for free use of public at chamber of commerce". Unlike the dozens of free and unsolicited telephone directories that we receive each year, Houstonians in 1945 could use the directory if they wished to visit the Houston Chamber of Commerce offices downtown.

The Houston Municipal Airport is Rated a Super-air Terminal, Contains 1,200 Acres, Runways 4,750 Feet Long. Within 30 Minutes' Drive of Heart of City."

Aviation Listings:
All of the aviation listings for 1945 may be found between "Air Conditioning Supplies-Wholesale" and "Alloy Steel Stud Bolts." This does not seem to be a comprehensive list, which indicates that only the companies who paid to advertise in the directory were listed. One notable ommission is a listing for the Houston Municipal Airport.
